
Vijay Khurana is a fiction writer and a translator from German. His debut novel, The Passenger Seat, was shortlisted for the Novel Prize, the Christina Stead Prize for Fiction and the McKitterick Prize. It was runner-up in the 2026 Tournament of Books and was a New York Times “Hidden Gem” book of the year. He is the recipient of a PEN Translates Award and a grant from the German Translator Fund, both for his translation of Senthuran Varatharajah’s novel Red (Hunger), to be published by Tilted Axis Press in 2027. His short fiction and essays have appeared in The Guardian, 3:AM Magazine, NOON and The Erotic Review, among others. He has also been a presenter on Australian radio station triple j and has published a children’s book, Regal Beagle.
